Description Technical Specs
The Basel Staff is the symbol of the two Swiss half-cantons of Basel-City and Basel-Region. This represents the Basel bishop's crozier. (A crozier is a staff with a curved top, representing a shepherd's staff. This is the symbol that a bishop is the shepherd of his diocese.)

Before the Reformation, Basel, Switzerland was the seat of a powerful bishop; therefore all flags, emblems, coats of arms and even weapons carried the design of the top of the Basel bishop's crozier. In modern times, the religious interpretation has vanished, but this symbol remains on the flags and coats of arms for the two Basel half-cantons.

The garland around the top of the staff probably represents peace. and unification of the two half-cantons.

Many of Ă„nis-Paradies' springerle mold customers live in the Basel region and love their coat of arms.

This mold makes a good eating-size cookie.

This mold is made of a food-safe resin that is unbreakable and waterproof. It comes with metal eyelet hanger attached at top for display on a wall. In addition to making cookies, you can make ornaments using this mold (we recommend non-toxic modeling materials such as Paperclay or Delight).
