Description Technical Specs
Crab or lobster. We're being rather broad in our description. This would be good for a clam bake.

This mold is from the blockbuster 42-image mold entitled "Paradise Birds". It is also found in a one-row subset of this birds mold called Water World.

The original antique mold from which this reproduction is made is in the private collection of Christa Fischer. It is displayed on pp. 136-37 of her book Stolze Reiter, Schoene Damen

The original is dated 1816 and came from a confectioner in Esslingen, near Stuttgart, Germany. Over generations, this mold was used in the confectionery factory for the manufacture of typical Swabian Springerle. Confectioners in the 19th century needed to simplify the cookie-making process t in order to reduce the cost of making a single cookie. As a result, the Paradise Bird mold contains 42 different images.
