Salve Regina, 3.1x3.7" (79x94mm).
This mold shows the Madonna and Child, as they are vernated throughout the year, particularly in the Marian month of May. The template for this mold comes from a limestone sculpture that dates from the 13th Century on the island of Reichenau in Lake Constance.
The Latin inscription "Salve Regina Mater Misericordiale" means: "Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy." This text is taken from a famous prayer and song, written by the monk Herman the Lame, who lived and worked on the island of Reichenau in the 11th Century.
The idea and design for this mold comes from Andrea Blum from Reichenau, Germany. As part of Änis Paradise's (our manufacturer) anniversary contest, this template placed third. This particular mold was carved by Master Carver Guido Neff from Appenzell, Switzerland out of pear wood.
