Scallop sea shell. Since the Middle Ages, the scallop shell has been a symbol to the pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. The name comes from the legend of St. James who is the patron saint of pilgrims. In the representations of St. James, he wears this shell on his hat or a belt. It is a common custom to stop the pilgrimage on the coast of Cape Finisterre and collect a real scallop there. The scallop is also magical symbol that brings the wearer help and happiness.

As part of Änis Paradise's (our supplier) anniversary contest they received this request from Lea Graf in Wetzikon, Switzerland. The mold was carved by Hans Neff from Urnäsch, Switzerland in pear wood in 2011.
